Hayabusa is a Japanese word for Peregrine Falcon, a bird symbolizing swiftness flying at a speed of 180 to 240 miles per hour or 290 to 390 km/h which is the fastest speed for birds. The choice of name was made because it was observed that the peregrine falcon feeds on blackbirds as prey and this fact sees the intended plan of the original Hayabusa made of hayabusa chrome to dethrone the Super Blackbird motorcycle considered to be the worlds’ fastest. The Hayabusa, possessing hayabusa chrome parts, manage to outdo the Super Blackbird by a speed of at least 10 miles per hour or 16 km/h.

Motorbike enthusiasts especially the race track drivers liked the Hayabusa with parts made of hayabusa chrome because it has several functional purposes including competitive motor sports. Motor sports encompass all the sporting aspects of motorcycling. These are not all races that are timed for speed but other competitions test various riding skills of the competitors. The hayabusa in hayabusa chrome parts plays a big part in motor sports because of its speed and had been since used for course road racing, drag racing and top speed competition.
